Time & Connection in Marriage
Tuesday, June 26th, 2007So many things in this world distract us and pull us away from what God wants us to be focused on. Along this line my eyes have been open here that I’ve let time and other things get in-between my wife and my connection, we just aren’t connected like God desires us to be. This isn’t good, and needs to be addressed and thankfully it will be. My encouragement to you is to not let time pass, and things get you busy and slowly break down that close connection we as husbands are responsible for cultivating with our wives.
Don’t think that “once we get past this ’season’ there will be time to do more”, because there will always be something that when it’s done seems like it will be easier afterward. Instead, give your bride the benefit of your time and attention right now, don’t wait, and don’t hold back. Ensure you have quality and quantity time with her, doing anything from reading a book together to going out on dates. Make sure she knows that she is your bride and you are happy about that!
At least that is the message I needed to hear, and again thankfully I heard it. Maybe in some way you needed to hear it too, I pray that it will bless your day and your marriage!
On a more Bible Study note (although the marriage and being connected is at the center of our lives with Christ so don’t discount that), I started Matthew and read Chapter 2 this morning. I was reminded about how God protected Jesus from Herod, He didn’t choose to just kill Herod but rather have Joseph and Mary flee, and hide in a different country…the point was that God will protect his children but part of the recipe for us receiving that protection is obeying what He wants us to do. In this case Joseph and Mary obeyed the angel and because of that they were protected. It’s a good lesson; that we can’t just think because we are God’s children we can do anything and still have that protection but rather in order to receive that protection we need to obey.
I’ll post more about the sermon this last Sunday here in a little bit but here is a preview of what it was about… - Jesus re-defined what true son ship was and how that applies to us.
