God vs. Money…the struggle!

What a time to be alive in the United States…is it just me or is God teaching us how un-important money really is? Here today gone tomorrow, those who put their faith in money are literally killing themselves in some cases and in others just devastated looking for anyone to bail their bad decisions out.

How important is money to you? I know for myself for a while I was truly falling into a bit of depression with how much we were “loosing” in the stock market, etc but my heart is lifted when I re-focus my direction to look to God and not money for protection. Money and Selfishness today I think are the idols of our day.

I’m reading in Ezekiel still, the parts about the dimensions of the temple, etc are so specific I admit I skipped over a bit of it (all the cubit measuring, etc) :) But at the end God calls His people back, He wants them to worship Him, to put asside their idols, to not care about their situation and focus their eyes on Him, their worship on Him, their lives on Him.

What can we learn from that…we have a God that continually calls us back to His worship, to Himself. He is a jealous God that requires singlular worship! You can not worship money and Christ. You can not worship yourself and Christ. You can not worship material possisions and Christ. You can not worship “fun” and Christ! You either worship Him alone, or you fall into the world as another soul that is lost.

My encouragement to you is to not worry about the money, do you best to plan for your family, to save and put away to protect what you need! And make sure you give God what is His even in this downturn! But don’t hang your happiness, your existance, or your worship on money! Christ is enough and He is all we will have when we leave this earth!
